Does anyone think that a flat tax is unfair?

Delphine Cajka: No I do not, not at all, 15% is 15% regardless of how much a person makes and the "Rich" would still be paying more, yet EVERYONE would actually be contributing to the Country instead of the 40+% that contribute nothing at this time. And think of the savings to the US Government, 3/4 of the IRS could be fired, they would not have to print new forms every year and print millions of books to explain how to fill out the forms, Congress could actually work on fixing issues in the country instead of writing laws a good portion of them will ignore anyway etc etc....Show more

The whole idea of tax is to fund government and the whole idea of government is to keep one person from abusing another person. People abusing each other is unfair. The government oversteps its bounds and taxes too much when it takes on the position of taking to give rather than taking to keep one from taking from another.

Bruno Galasso: That depends entirely upon your political affiliation. I agree that a flat tax would be simple and fair, but there are issues that need to be addressed to effectively use it. Low income wage earners would still need to be protected from taxation, as would people with disabilities or otherwise unable to work! . There is also the issue of the thousands of IRS employees who would be out of work due to the massive simplification of the tax code.I'm sure there are other things that I haven't mentioned that need to be addressed, as well.
