Anibal Scheid: First of all, a magazine editor is not that unique of a career- you will be competing with hundreds of other people pursuing the same career as you. You will also probably have to either be freaking amazing or work your way up the ranks, which is a slow and agonizing process. Just FYIAs for your friend wanting to be a magazine editor also, who cares? Why does it matter to you? If you're really that hard of a worker you'll succeed no matter what anyone is doing or what anybody else is thinking.Just go for it and let your friend have her own life....Show more

Sheron Perrez: I don't think it's unusual that a friend wants to do the same thing as you. It's pretty normal if you ask me. A particular example, my cousin wanted to go into Computer Science, I thought it was pretty interesting so I took a few courses relating to Computer Science back in highschool. I later realized that Computer Science wasn't something I wanted to go in, and here I am now pursuing a degree in Graphic Design. Personally, I wouldn't worry about it too much. Chances are, in the end they won't have the same career as you anyway, and if they do, well you can circulate ideas with one another and help each other....! Show more
