If you request a credit limit increase on a credit card, and its declined, does it effect your credit score?

Bob Nakamoto: Getting declined for an increase does not lower your score.Having someone look at your credit score does.

Sook Hershkowitz: No it does notAaronhttp://www.letranslator.com

Brittney Inabnit: because you requested it.....yes

Alexis Reyer: yes, it decreases your credit score. However, not due to being denied, rather you would get a small hit for two reasons:1. requesting credit2. Having someone look at your credit score.

Clinton Migliori: it depends on how they qualified you....if they looked at your credit bureau, then yes it does effect it any inquiry doesif they based it on your account history solely with them, it will noti would assume they wouldn't have looked at your credit bureau if you did it by phone, if you signed and mailed something i would assume they did

Neville Dautremont: yes, anytime you apply for a new credit card or ask for an increase, (or basically anything that has to check your credit), it affects your score.
