Asking for References?

Buster Exline: I don't think so references at previous jobs are only supposed to say if you did or did not work for them, anything further is not necessary.

Danette Slotnick: It is the courteous thing to do. It gives them a warning that they may receive a call from someone about a job. That way, they're less inclined to ignore the call (Who was it? I don't know...some salesman, I guess) and fail to return the request for a reference.
