Difference between vegan & raw vegan?

Wally Perrien: Vegans can eat things that have been cooked.Raw vegans (if they're 100% raw) only eat their food, well raw. Uncooked.Some raw vegans just eat mostly raw.

Autumn Vacio: A raw vegan only eats raw foods. I've heard that it's a great way to lose weight.I never transitioned from vegetarian to vegan; I just went vegan full-force. You should definitely make the transition. Dairy cows and egg-laying hens have it ten times worse than the animals slaughtered for their flesh. Watch Earthlings and you'll see it.

Ardelia Liptow: raw vegan is where the stuff is not heated passed 115 degrees farenheit so that the enzymes dont get killed. in a nutshell thats the definition. so lets say you liked steamed rice or something, now it just has to be soaked in water haha, i work at a raw vegan resteraunt. thats what happens.

Lupe Sancen: Okayyy, so...vegan is eating n! o animal products or bi-products, no wearing animals, no using! products that were tested on animals, pretty much just living under a no cruelty to animals lifestyle...Raw vegan is eating food that hasn't been cooked...everything you eat can't be heated to above 115 degrees (I've also heard 118 degrees) so that you don't kill any of the enzymes in your food...This sounds so boring, but if you take a look at the some raw food blogs, you'll see you can create beautiful foods, and the best part is you feel sooo amazing when you eat a lot of raw in your diet. I worked at a raw food restaurant and did it for a while and I try to eat almost 100% in the summer ( In the winter all I crave are hot foods!) This is my favorite raw blog...http://www.rawgoddessheathy.com/ you wouldn't believe none of the food she makes hasn't been cooked or baked!Becoming vegan in the beginning is a bit of a challenge if you're not 100% into it...I've been for 4 years and wow! when I think of when I first went and how I had no clue where to buy certain things and s! pending way too much money on things that you can find really cheap other places, I can't believe how easy it is now...it just takes a while to know what your doing...it also helps A LOT if you have stores around you that provide vegan options...a lot of mainstream grocery stores are carrying vegan and organic products now too...Trader Joe's, if you have one near by, is a GREAT place to shop at as they're really cheap and carry so much vegan stuff...The only problem I have now is whenever I go out to eat, if possible, I'll eat something at home and then just get a salad once we get to the restaurant, that way I can enjoy hanging out with friends but I don't have to sit there starving while I watch them eat! Another big thing about veganism is that you can't be so hard on yourself...if you slip up sometimes, go easy on yourself!! It happens! Good luck!!!...Show more
